European Day of Languages 2024

We celebrated European Day of Languages. This is a yearly, national celebration that allows us to delve into the customs and cultures of other countries, as well as explore different languages.

Our theme this year was festivals, and each year group focused on either a Spanish or French festival. We created fact files, got creative in art lessons, tried dancing, and also either made, or tasted food connected with the festivals.

Years 5 and 6 were invited to join in with an online French lesson, organised by Birley Academy, which was a change from the usual Spanish that we learn! Pupils have told us how much they enjoyed this and teachers have said how

Recognising and celebrating the range of languages spoken throughout Europe, and also in our schools, opens up a greater understanding, awareness and respect for the diverse cultures around us, as well as creating opportunities within travel and possible future careers!

WATCH THIS SPACE, AS WE ARE IN THE VERY EARLY STAGES OF DEVELOPING A LINK WITH A PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL IN SPAIN! THIS COULD BE A FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE CULTURE, LETTERS, MAKE NEW FRIENDS AND MAYBE EVEN HAVE VISITORS TO CHPA OR VISIT THE SCHOOL IN SPAIN!!!
