Modeshift Stars – travelling to CHPA in a healthier way that is better for the environment!

Park & Stride Scheme – 5-10 Minute Walk/Wheel Zone

We are proudly launching our new Park & Stride scheme!

Pupil Councillors walked for 5 minutes from CHPA in different directions putting up walking bubble stickers on lampposts to indicate suitable places for parents to park and stride from – this means parking at least a 5 minute walk/wheel away from CHPA.

Walking, using a wheelchair, scooting or cycling the whole way to CHPA gets pupils fit and healthy, reduces congestion and parking issues which makes the neighbourhood safer and reduces toxic pollution from cars meaning we can all breathe cleaner air.

Places to safely store bikes and scooters are available in both the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds. If you can’t travel actively the whole way, please consider using public transport or park and stride to keep the roads closer to CHPA safer for pupils to walk along and so your child can get a bit of exercise at the start and end of the day.

Suggested places to park are indicated by a walking bubble sticker on a lamppost (indicated by a star on the map below showing the 5 minute walk/wheel zone).

Please do not park on double yellow or zig zag lines or on pavements as this is dangerous for pupils walking to CHPA, who may not be able to fit through on the pavement or be able to see both ways to cross the road safely. Parking on pavements prevents people with double buggies, wheelchairs or mobility scooters from using the pavement.

Please turn off your engine whilst parked as engine fumes are toxic to health and children are particularly at risk.
