Year 5 had the pleasure to visit a Jewish Synagogue in Sheffield. They were welcomed when they arrived by the Rabbi. He welcomed us into the Synagogue and told us a bible story about Moses and the burning bush, which is well known within the Jewish community as the first time God spoke to the Jewish community as a whole – which gave context to a piece of steel based art work the Synagogue had in the entrance. After this, pupils were taken up into the room where the services takes place. The Rabbi told us all about the Star of David, the scrolls and the Sabbath. Pupils asked lots of questions around the Jewish religion, the anrtefacts they have, the Synagogue itself and were able to hold different artefacts and objects that are used within the Jewish ceremony every Saturday morning. They enjoyed creating different sketches and drawing of different items within the Synagogue to remember their visit by. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed deepening their understanding of the Jewish religion.
