Year 1 have loved their topic on the Great Fire of London. On Wednesday we were very fortunate for Andy from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue to support our learning and run a Great Fire of London day. In the morning, the children were taught about the role of the fire service now and how it has changed since the Great Fire of London as well as fire safety. Then in the afternoon we had the exciting opportunity to re-enact our own Great Fire of London. Pupils took lots of time and effort to great their own houses from 1666. We then set the house on fire, allowing us to see and understand how the fire spread so quickly and how the wind caused the fire to grow bigger and faster.
Even with the snow fall, pupils were so engaged and enjoyed their learning and experience.
